We are proud to offer life-enhancing care to give our patients the active and mobile lifestyle required for healthy living and healthy aging. Our incredibly talented team of board-certified orthopedic surgeons is committed to providing outstanding, compassionate care to help patients recover from a broad range of injuries. At our multiple locations, we specialize in treating sports injuries and injuries to the ankle, bicep, elbow, foot, hamstring, hand, hip, knee, quadriceps, shoulder and wrist, including any workers compensation injuries. As a innovative part of our care, our orthopedist in Brookline offers stem cell, platelet-rich plasma and ultrasound-guided injections in our office, eliminating any inconvenience to patients of having to go elsewhere. We pride ourselves in offering many complimentary health care modalities including expert muscle and skeletal therapy from a licensed acupuncturist, Chinese massage therapy and cupping, and cold laser therapy.

The elbow is a relatively simple hinge joint which only allows flexion and extension. The elbow joint occurs at the junction the humerus or upper arm bone, the ulna which is the larger of the two forearm bones and the radius bone. At BSSC, the Brookline orthopedist will carefully examine your arm to assess the scope of your injury. Injuries to the elbow are caused by sports or recreational activities, work-related tasks, home projects, and falls. Most elbow injuries in children occur during activities, such as sports or play, or are the result of accidental falls. The risk for injury is higher in contact sports such as wrestling, football, or soccer, or high-speed sports such as biking, in-line skating, skiing, hockey, snowboarding, or skateboarding. Elbows, forearms, wrists, hands, and fingers are the most affected body areas. Any injury in a child or teen that occurs near a joint may injure the growing end (growth plate) of long bones and needs to be evaluated. Older adults have a higher risk for injuries and fractures because they lose muscle mass and bone strength as they age.

At Boston Sports & Shoulder Center, your Brookline orthopedist will work with you to come up with the best treatment strategy. We understand how difficult every day activities can be when your arm is injured, so we do our utmost to get you fully functioning as quickly as possible. We work with skilled physical therapists to ensure that your recovery includes strengthening exercises and preventive strategies to help you avoid further injury.

We provide state of the art care for multiple orthopedic conditions of the ankle, elbow, foot, hand, hip, knee, and shoulder, including workmen’s compensation injuries.. Our multi-discipline approach offers a comprehensive program for healing and rehabilitation. Our orthopedist in Boston offers stem cell, platelet-rich plasma and ultrasound-guided injections in our office, eliminating any inconvenience to patients of having to go elsewhere. Stem cell injection therapy can play an important role in orthopedic regenerative medicine. Stem cells are harvested from either the patient, through bone marrow, or a young donor source. These injections are used to treat orthopedic sports injuries and degenerative conditions like osteoarthritis and rotator cuff disease. Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) injections use concentrated platelets of a patient’s own blood to enhance the healing process. They are used to treat chronic degenerative conditions of bone, tendon and cartilage, and acute sports injuries. Ultrasound-guided injections use the ultrasound to accurately guide the needle directly to the affected area. This technique is used for cortisone, hyaluronic acid, stem cell, and PRP injections. We provide expert muscle and skeletal therapy from a licensed acupuncturist in our Waltham office. We specialize in Chinese massage therapy to treat post-op pain management, frozen shoulder, scar tissue mobilization, muscle strain, muscle imbalance, tendonitis, carpal tunnel syndrome and other nerve entrapment, plantar fasciitis, and back and neck pain. Needles, cupping therapy and cold laser therapy are used in treatment.

Platelet-rich plasma injections, also known as PRP injections, use the patient’s own blood to greatly enhance the healing process. This is helpful for treating degenerative conditions of the bones, tendons and cartilage. Ultrasound-guided injections allow us to insert treatment injections into the precise area affected by the orthopedic problem. Ultrasound-guided injections are used when providing cortisone, hyaluronic acid, stem cell and PRP injections. We also offer acupuncture treatment from a licensed acupuncturist.
